Mahinarangi Tocker was born in Taumarunui and started writing short stories in 1990. She is a singer and a composer of over 300 songs. She has toured extensively as a singer in Aotearoa and has performed at the Brugge Festival, Belgium, and given concerts in Holland, Canada and Australia. She has performed on television and has made recordings. She has made appearances on Webb Women’s Music Collective (1982), Auckland Acoustic (1985), and the solo albums Clothesline Conversation (1985) and I’m Going Home (1987).
