Mere Clarke (Ngāti Porou) is a resource teacher of Māori and a mother of 13. She lives in Gisborne, where she is further developing her writing.
Her book, Whirikoki and his Seal is currently out of print. It is a beautiful book that brings to life the East Coast legend that explains the Gisborne place-name Puna Hinu.
