"I live in Te Arai with my husband Scott and a dog called Juno. I am of Tainui descent and have three adult sons. I have twice been a Pikihuia award finalist which resulted in my stories published in their short story collections. I was lucky enough to receive a place on the inaugural Te Papa Tupu scheme that mentors emerging writers. My first novel ‘The Scent of apples,’ was the result of this. It won a gold medal in the 2012 Independent Publisher Book Awards (the 'IPPYs') in New York and was selected by the International Youth Library in Munich and received a White Ravens label. My short story, ‘Time’ will be published later in the year in a collection of short stories by New Zealand writers. Last year I completed a Masters in Creative writing at AUT and graduated with first class honours. I am currently working on a draft of the novel that I produced for my masters."--NZSA
