"Shilo Kino is a reporter and writer. She released her debut novel The Pōrangi Boy with Huia Publishers in 2020 and undertook a year-long full immersion journey at Te Wānanga Takiura. She writes about social issues, justice and identity.'
She 'has completed a Bachelor of Arts with a double major in English and Film, Television and Media Studies from the University of Auckland' and has also studied towards a Graduate Diploma in Pacific Journalism at AUT University.
'With journalism, she hopes to change the imbalance of reporting from the New Zealand media and to be a voice for Māori and Pacific Islanders while maintaining journalistic excellence and integrity.'
Shilo's main passion is creative writing .
In her spare time she enjoys hanging out with her two dogs, Jedi and Princess Leia, and sharing her many insightful thoughts on Twitter."
