David Geary

Taranaki

David Geary 'was born in Feilding and grew up in Rangiwahia in the Manawatū high country. For most of the past twenty years, he has lived in Vancouver. Geary is best known as a playwright (Pack of Girls, Lovelock's Dream Run), as well as a dramaturg, screenwriter and script consultant. His fiction includes the 2004 collection Man of the People and stories in the anthologies The Penguin Book of Contemporary New Zealand Short Stories (2009) and Pūrākau: Māori Myths Retold by Māori Writers (2019). Many of Geary's stories are dialogue-driven, their conflicts explored through sharp, colloquial exchanges - a reflection of his expertise as a dramatist.'
