- Obtained February, 1905, from Ira Herewini, of Moeraki, by J. Cowan.
- Herewini provides a brief account of the term "Te Waka-a-Maui" which was used as an ancient name of the South Island by Ngāi Tahu people of old. He quotes its use in a chant by Kukurangi of Ngāti Awa prior to Te Rauparaha’s second raid of Kaiapohia Pa in 1830.
