Son of George Koea of New Plymouth and brother of Marama and Moana. He ‘studied journalism and broadcasting in England on an Imperial Relations Trust Bursary.’ Later was assistant editor of the Taranaki Daily News and editor of the Taranaki Herald from Married Shona – novelist and short story writer.
