‘A native speaker, Pierre is qualified in media and education. He has written a masters thesis on Hongi Hika, and he has also written a first-draft PhD thesis on Ngā Puhi karakia. A former English teacher, the short story is Pierre’s favourite genre: "Māori like short stories and magazine stories because we don’t have the time or inclination to wade through lengthy writing. Like a good whaikōrero or a good song, a great short story creates an atmosphere and takes us away from our problems in five minutes."’
