Te Āti Awa, Taranaki



"Makere was a chief of the Ati-awa, his pa being Manu-korihi, which is on the northern bank of the Wai-tara river. He was a composer of songs, and Tu-Raukawa, a high priest and a chief of the Ngāti Rua-nui, was his rival as a composer."
