"Te Manu Aute/The Māori Kite Of Aute Bark." Trans. Mr E. Tregear. Journal of the Polynesian Society 10 (1901): 191-193.
In this short article Hamiora Pio describes the construction of the Māori kite made of aute or paper mulberry (Brousonnetia papyrifera), and he outlines who were permitted to fly this kite and provides the text of a karakia chanted by the tribe during the flight of the kite. Pio’s text in Māori is followed by Tregear’s English translation.
