Aroha Maria Poharama
"Tumanako: Talking with Aroha Poharama." Race Gender Class 9/10 (Dec. 1989): 104-111.
Aroha Poharama discusses her response to the 1990 Treaty commemorations and states that while there seems little to celebrate, the ‘growing awareness of the Treaty’ is a hopeful sign as is the work of the Tribunal. She comments on the Ngāi Tahu claim, the growing radicalisation of the Māori, negative reporting of Māori in the media, and the effects of devolution on the Māori. She challenges the token Māori involvement in government committees and boards of trustees and examines the role of Māori women.
